Hwayugi – A Korean Odyssey
Who is excited for Lee Seung Gi to be back on the small screen?
TVN recently held the first script reading for upcoming drama series “A Korean Odyssey” or otherwise known as Hwayugi on November 4, 2017.
The drama is a modern adaptation of “Pilgrimage to the West or Journey to the West ,” an ancient Chinese novel. “Hwayugi” is a 2017-2018 South Korean drama series directed by Park Hong Kyun. The drama is written by Jong Jung Eun and Hong Mi Ran, often referred to as “the Hong Sisters,” who have written many hit television dramas, including “The Greatest Love” (2011), “Big” (2012), “Master’s Sun” (2013) and “Warm and Cozy” (2015).
Jin Sun Mi (Oh Yeon Seo) is a real estate CEO who has the ability to exorcise demons from bad-luck properties, making her very successful.
In her work, she meets Son Oh Gong (Lee Seung Gi), a charismatic businessman, and Woo Hwi Chul (Cha Seung Won), the CEO of an entertainment company who enjoys more fame and adoration than some of the celebrities in his company, including top idol star P.K (Lee Hong Ki).
Sun Mi’s life becomes much more complicated as a result of these high-profile men in her life!
We see on the stills that everybody is seriously considering their roles.
The main cast are all in attendance at the first script reading, including Lee Seung-Gi, Cha Seung-Won, Oh Yeon-Seo, Lee Hong-Ki (‘F.T. Island’), Yoon Bo-Ra (ex-‘Sistar’ member), Lee El, Kim Sung-Oh, Sung Hyuk, Sung Ji-Ru and Jang Gwang all attended.
According to cable channel tvN on Thursday, Netflix just signed a contract with the production company to stream “A Korean Odyssey” worldwide. “A Korean Odyssey” will first air in December 23, 2017 in South Korea.
